Cataract

A cataract is a clouding of the eye's natural lens, which lies behind the iris and the pupil. It can cause blurry vision, glare, and difficulty seeing at night, and if left untreated, can lead to blindness.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve, which can lead to vision loss and blindness. It is often caused by an increase in pressure within the eye, known as intraocular pressure (IOP).

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD)

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a common eye condition that affects older adults and results in the deterioration of the central part of the retina, called the macula. This can cause a decrease in central vision, making it difficult to read, drive or recognise faces.

Diabetic eye disease

People with diabetes (types 1 and 2) are at increased risk of eye problems and vision loss. Diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular oedema are the main forms of diabetic eye disease.

Cone-rod dystrophy (CORD)

Cone-rod dystrophy is a group of genetic or inherited eye diseases that affect the retina and cause vision loss.

Fuchs’ endothelial dystrophy

In Fuchs’ endothelial dystrophy, the cornea of the eye becomes cloudy over time. This causes blurred or hazy vision that progressively worsens.
